Clunk in Reverse

I have a problem only after a cold start and I'm in reverse, to get out of a parking spot. I start the car, put it in reverse, apply the brakes and CLUNK! This only happens on a cold start, and it only happens when in reverse. I'm not slamming on the brakes or anything, just lightly applying them. Also, this doesn't always happen. Somedays it will after a cold start, somedays it will not. Brake pads? ? Thanks in advance

is the sound coming form the front or the back brakes? If the fronts maybe the slide bolts, if the backs possibly a shoe is off the anchor pin. I had an old pontiac 6000 with a similar problem, changed the springs and religned everything inside the drums and it worked. Any help? Let me know how it goes.

Did you checked the tranny mounts? My Z-34 has worn mounts and sometimes the clunk comes when accelerating of breaking

The problem is coming from a gasket that pieces two parts of the exhaust together. When the exhaust heats up and expands the connection is tight, so the clunk goes away. Annoying, but not a major problem. I had the dealer replace the gasket under warranty, once I discovered the problem, but it can be done easily by anybody. I can't remember now which two pieces it joined, it has been a long time.
