1998 Dodge Stratus Upgrades/Aftermarket Partstravsstuff 05-25-2004, 09:15 AM I just bought a 1998 Dodge Stratus ES. Could someone give me some links and ideas of what I could do to this car. Here are the things I want to do. -Cheap body Kit (maybe a wing) -Cold air intake -4in. Pipe (maybe I need headers too, just whatever sounds the best =) -Halogens, and neons. -also if anyone has any cheap ways to increase acceleration or speed Well thats about it. I want to set up my car to be a street/show car. BleedDodge 05-25-2004, 12:53 PM A cheap body kit will do exactly what its name implies: make it look cheap. Please don't do this, it looks so horrible. Nothing will make this car sound good either. A 4 inch rice pipe or headers or whatever else is just going to make it sound like a weed eater. I suggest you just leave it the way it is. If you put these body kits or rice pipes on, it won't be good at all. People don't like to see cars get degraded by putting this stuff on, so please don't do it. slantsixness 05-25-2004, 02:55 PM It's an ES. What motor des it have? manual or automatic. Bleed's right. Body kits on Stratuses look like SH!T. wing? well, not as a functional part, but any aftermarket wing will fit, like camry, ES300, Accord, but, not if it forms to the body. Hell, some of them look like SH!T too. Don't put 16" rims wit huge offsets on, either. I saw one running around here like that, and I wanted to puke. It looked SOOOOO stooopid. What do you REALLY want to do??? travsstuff 05-26-2004, 09:29 AM http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/554558 http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/102380 tell me one more time why not to soup up my strat after you look at those pics. Oh ya its an automatic w/ an autostick slantsixness 05-26-2004, 03:12 PM Oh, It's one of "those" cars. A little heavy on the flourescent orange add-ons, Eh? To each his own, I'm not into "Show-stuff" like that, but I guess it's pretty cool (I'm just getting too old, I guess). Put a "Tribal" hood ornament on it, 17" rims, black out tint and a muffler the size of a sewer pipe and Viola: Instant Sh!t-Rod. I would not recommend trying to run this car on soup. A "Strat" is a guitar. Don't pour soup in that, either. This was all just for fun! :) Slantsixness travsstuff 05-26-2004, 05:20 PM Is there a guide for aftermarket upgrades somewhere. A link would be nice slantsixness 05-27-2004, 11:50 AM 93spirit 06-01-2004, 02:35 AM umm.. i have a suggestion.. Sell your stratus and buy an import if your intrested in aftermarket/looks. Btw.. Neons are fking gay! slantsixness 06-01-2004, 07:02 AM umm.. i have a suggestion.. Sell your stratus and buy an import if your intrested in aftermarket/looks. Btw.. Neons are fking gay! I don't like the type of mods that Travsstuff is interested in persuing with his stratus, but what the hell does a Neon have to do with it? '93 spiritDude: you have a '93 Spirit. That's F^cking gay. Travs: Imports are like A$$holes. Everybody has one and they all stink. Keep on the Stratus, evidently '93spirit didn't bother to look at the efforts you have put into your car. 93spirit 06-01-2004, 12:17 PM I don't like the type of mods that Travsstuff is interested in persuing with his stratus, but what the hell does a Neon have to do with it? I was not talking specifically about the car "NEON" i was talking about the little gay looking lights you put under your car. You say a 93 Spirit is gay, well ok.. It isn't the nicest car in the world. But it gets my from point A to B and thats all that matters. I am not intrested in making my Dodge some peice of shit like his Stratus. Besides the Neon, Dodges should be left alone when it comes to bodykits/wings. Finally.. Imports.. ah yes.. It seems slantsixness has a problem with Imports. His explanation? They're like A$$holes everyone has one and they stink?.. ROFL.. First off, yes import cars are fairly popular, it depends on your location. Second off.. Yes they are so popular because they actually have potential and looks. I am not one of those Civic guys or anything I am more of a fan of Nissans and Acruas, but good god, what man wouldn't want a car that is efficient, fast, good looking (better then a stratus anyways) and has the best aftermarket. I also own an 89 Mazda RX-7 and that thing flies, not to mention It gets like 40 MPG. If you decide to work on your Stratus, goodluck man, and sorry I offended you.. I was just giving my opinon, and last time i checked that wasn't illegal. As for slantsixness well, mind your business? You have no fking idea how a import drives b/c you've probally never owned one. Yeah America has good cars and I like alot of them, Esp. sports cars but when it comes down to the wire... No American car is going to average out 30 MPG, good speed, and run 300,000 - 400,000 miles. Eat $h1t. slantsixness 06-01-2004, 03:19 PM hmmmm... "You have no fking idea how a import drives b/c you've probally never owned one." That would be very wrong of you to assume. "No American car is going to average out 30 MPG, good speed, and run 300,000 - 400,000 miles." This would also be wrong to assume, on all three counts. "Dodges should be left alone when it comes to bodykits/wings." Hmm... an ES body kit on a daytona.... yeah that looks better than the sheet metal body... oh well, Oh, did I say it get's 32 MPG in the city....? and it's well over 200K miles.....? Imports? I've had (and still have) several, Japanese or other (mostly british)... They all break, last, blow up, get great MPG, cost a fortune to make fast enough, etc. there is no real difference, buddy. The operative word here is the "Differentness". Everybody's got an import (hence the old Camaro cliche), and a kit to make it look like every other car at the "Cool spot" on saturday nights. Neon lights don't make it go, carbon fiber isn't any lighter than most sheet metal these days, wheels and paint don't make it go faster, and stereo's (sorry I guess there called "systems" or "Tunes" nowdays)certainly just put a strain on notoriously expensive electrical systems... Why not be different, or at least try? What if Travs' comes up with something that really does look good? I will say I was mistaken on your "neons" comment, so I apologize for making it seem like I would defend a neon, or a neon light. So, with that, I'll take my 29MPG 405K mile '86 dodge D100 and still be driving it when you're a grandfather. Slantsixness vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
