Left rear tire noise

I have been getting noise from the left rear tire of my Intrigue. I currently have about 80,000 miles on the car and the tires are about eight months old. They are brigadier touring tires. I am not sure if it is a tire problem or a bearing problem. Seems louder when I turn right and goes away when I make a hard left turn.

Any Ideas??????

I'm guessing bearing, I'm having the same problem.

I have a noise comming from the rear tires due to cupping from a bad alignment before I got the car. the noise sounds simalar to a bad bearing but it becomes less of a problem at higher speeds like 70mph. it is not affected by turns.

Your description sounds like a bearing. If you grab the top of the wheel and push back and fourth. If you feel a clunking your bearing is bad. If you don't then run your hand along the tire and feel for an uneveness. Usually on the inner edge on Intrigues. If you still have questions, try rotating the tires. If the noise moves, the problem is the tires. If it doesn't it is the bearing.

My money is on the bearing. I had the same from the front and it was a bearing. I talked to the parts guy and he said all GM's from 1998 to 2002 had bearing problems. As a matter of fact those are the only bearings they stock. All other makes they don't bother they never go unless the owners are in accidents.

Nice thought, isn't it! The only bearings in stock are GM.....
