This race was between me (a 1990 GT) and a 89' LX with a carburated 289ci. This 89' LX has a 600 holley, dual-plane intake, and exhaust. The ONLY problem with the car is that it is automatic. My friend bought it a couple days ago and we didnt get to race until this morning. Talk about "anticipation". Alright on to the story.

We were up at Sonics eating when somebody asked us which car was faster. So we kinda looked at each other and jumped in our cars to head off to 316 (a local highway). He was in front off me when we pulled on and i came up beside him in 2nd gear. I was turning about 4,100rpms when we evened out. I did a 1-2-3 count and we both punched it. I got a immediate jump on him to where his nose was at my quarter panel because i think he's needed time to kick down, i'm not really sure but i got the lead anyway.

I shifted at my usual rpms between 5,000 and 5,300. I kept the same lead until i started to get at around 5,000rpms in 4th gear. He started to gain a little so i upshifted to 5th and we were neck and neck. He pulled like 4 inches on me for a couple seconds and then my car started moving again and i pulled hard on him and put him in his place (i think he might have let off though).

Then we did it again, the 2nd run was pretty much like the first so i wont go into detail there. Then we raced a final time. The 3rd run was by far the best race i've ever had in my life. We got dead even and i droped mine down in 3rd at about 3,500rpms. I looked over at him for a while and i saw his headlights shoot up so i punched mine. I took her on up to 5K, hit 4th, looked over and we were still dead even. I kept it going until i toped out in 4th, hit 5th gear, looked over again and we were still dead even. Neither one of us inched on each other, then we finally let off at called it a day. I got the glory though because i won the first two. :smokin:
