Throttle body cleaningequalizr 05-24-2004, 03:47 AM Is it possible to do this without taking off the whole housing? I mean, could i just take the air intake hose off the end closest to the engine and spray into that while someone inside revs the engine? pls let me know :) its a 2001 cav 2.2L perna00 05-24-2004, 12:59 PM yeah, it's possible. while you're cleaning it, remove the idle air control valve and clean the end on it also. equalizr 05-24-2004, 08:34 PM K well i did this today and it worked out great! Used about half the can of spray and had my Girlfriend in the car revvin the engine. Engine doesnt run rough anymore and my rpm's are down a bit(3-400rpm's) (compared at 100kms per hour on highway) All i did was take the air hose off and spray inside that. Im taking its not the best way, but she sure worked pretty good and still have half a can left. C_Sephiroth 05-24-2004, 09:10 PM You could have even used an old toothbrush, and some Carb cleaner, We use the GM carb cleaner X66A, good shit. equalizr 05-24-2004, 10:23 PM umm....how did you want me to get the toothbrush inside the plastic housing and magically find the opening? i just sprayed in and it caught most of it. C_Sephiroth 05-25-2004, 07:07 AM Remove the air duct, and with the engine off hold open the Throttle, and clean the edges of the throttle plate and the bore it's self vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
