CPS in 89' GP...HELP!!!

I have a 89' Grand Prix with the 2.8 Liter engine. The crankshaft positioning sensor went bad so I went to go change it. It cracked off while trying to get it out, I was as gentle as possible but it stil broke. I tried everything to get it out but nothing worked and now it's down to the metal sensing tip, no plastic left. The only other thing I can think of (seeing is how I gave up on getting it out from the exterior) is to take off the oil pan???

My question is how much work is it to get the pan off and can you even get to it from the inside once the pan is off?

Thanks,
Car Guy

I don't think you can reach the CPS even if you remove the oil pan.
Dropping the pan helps you remove the broken bits of pieces of the CPS and clean the oil pan for any gunk and debris.
Try using an angled long nose pliers (use the longer type about 12 inches long so you have a better leverage when trying to remove the CPS.

When I removed the CPS on my vehicle, I use an angled pry bar to help me pull it out with less effort because I have better leverage.
