Is my window motor going?

Hello all,

So I've had my '99 GX 3.5 (86k) for just over a month and have bonded with it well.

I know that the power window motors can go out on these and not sure if my driver's window may be going.

A few times today, when I tried to lower the window it didn't move. But when I pushed in the button a little and pulled it back, it did go down. Also goes back up just fine.

So is this probably just a loose connection to the window button? Should I remove the panel an see if I can fix the connection somehow? I've never been very handy with cars and things.

Thanks!

I had that problem with my window also. It would go down sometimes mostly in the morning and it would always go up but then it wouldnt go down again. I took it to the shop and it was the switches, i paid 80 but the part i got was used, i have no problem now with my windows.

I have a recurring problem similar to what you describe with your windows not operating properly. Mine will sometimes operate and other times not operate. I thought it was a switch problem. I took it in and they checked out OK. Turns out what is/was happening is the weatherstripping adheres itself to the window.
New weatherstripping has a fuzzy layer on it that the glass rides on. After it ages, gets dirty , etc., and gets warm or hot, it begins to stick to the glass, sometimes on all three sides. A quick fix is to insert a credit card between glass and weatherstripping and slowly slide it around the perimeter of the window. I have seen a light black residue on the glass where the weatherstripping contacts it. Frequent cleaning of windows out to the exposed edges helps.
