Need Help - Engine Dies

Hi All,

I'm in need of help. I own a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. The other day I pumped gas in my car, and since the engine keeps cutting off. I'm not too sure what the problem is. Each time I turn the car on, it allows me too drive for 2-5 seconds before the engine cuts off. After the engine dies, I gotta keep starting it up again. Has anyone had this problem before???? Does it mean I have dirt in my fuel line??

depending on your mileage, you could be in need of a fuel pump. then tend to start going on (most) 3800 engines with 100,000/120,000 miles or more. Get it diagnosed, and see what the mechanic says. if it ends up being the fuel pump, be prepared to dish out $400+

just an FYI. there has been a rash of bad gas in PA, OH, KY, NY, and maybe more. two problems atm are lead clogging the fuel lines and carbon building up in the tank causing the gas gauge to read full. if you live around these states this could be the cause of it. atm the state of pa is looking into filing a class action suit for the company that sold the bad gas to pay for repairs.

It sounds like it could be the Fuel pump resistor which alot of us have had problems with Click Here (http://rmcgp.clubgp.com/fpresistor.html) for a temp fix if it is the resistor untill you can replace it with a new one.

Or if it is the fuel pump you can go with a Walbro fuel pump from www.zzperformance.com make sure you get it with the Corrugated Fuel Pump Hose for ($134).Our fuel pump isnt bad to replace,because you dont have to drop the tank and its all done from inside the trunk. ~Larry~

replace the filters i that dosent work have them scan the comp. possable crank shaft possitioning sensor 30 dollar part plus 45 min labor check the connection on it, located behind the lower engine pully
