Quick timing questionLPFreak1283 05-21-2004, 11:52 AM Ok. I had to remove my cylinder head due to a blown head gasket. As we tried to remove one of the cam gears, we broke it off. So we just pulled the timing belt off the other cam gear and removed the head. Now I want to put the new head on. Would I be able to just turn the cams to match the old head cam positions? Because the car was timed correctly and we did not move the timing belt, so, in my mind, i should be able to do this. I don't want to make timing of this engine a chore  . Any help?? btw, 90 Eclipse GSX...that might help! EclipseRST 05-21-2004, 12:15 PM how the fuck did you break a cam gear? damn! well you will need to take off the bottom pullies to make sure the crank and oil pump sprocket are aligned! you will need to pull the tensioner and then line the top gears up and the crank and oil pump sprocket up with the timing marks... if you have never done a timing belt job on a Mitsu before i suggest you take it to a mechanic unless you know someone who knows what they are doin! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
