Tune-up and upgrade infoLongerZ28S10 05-21-2004, 11:41 AM I have a 94 S-10 with the 2.2 and a M5. First question is how easy is it to do a complete tune-up on it? I do not know much about engines but i have done a tune-up on a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the I-6 and that was really easy. So can i tune-up my engine as easily as that one? Also are there any aftermarket parts that are farily cheap that will add any power at all? I know the 2.2 isnt much for modding but im looking for a little more power. Your help is appreciated. nate5oh 07-10-2004, 09:50 PM first off sorry to say a tune up is not as easy as it is on the jeep the coil packs are on the passenger side of the engine and the wires run under the intake to the plugs on the driver side. as far as mods there are a couple you can do for no money. remove the air silencer out of the airbox. i took and cut holes on the sides facing away from the engine and installed a k&n filter. or you could just buy a complete intake kit. a good exhaust system would help too, i'm running 2 1/2 inch pipe from the down pipe back (no cat) to a flowmaster and a side pipe, a turndown works great too, s10lowrider27 07-12-2004, 10:46 AM i think tune ups on the truck are easy, i have the same truck, and yes th coil packs are towards the bottom on the left side of the engine, but its still very easy to get to, and change your plug wires, and do whatever you wanna do with it. as far as aftermarket parts, you can get a K&N filter for it, they are around 40 dollars, and the whole k&n intake is around 250. Ebay has a whole intake for the 2.2, its 50 dollars plus 18 for S&h. but thats still only 68, im not sure how good it is but i have one on the way. but also get a cat back exhause, and i would leave your cat on, my buddy had his cat of and he said after a while his valves were tapping, but if you want better airflow for better sound and more power, then pick up a highflow cat. they are too exspensive... and if you wanna find out how good the parts on ebay are, get next months sport truck magazine, they are building i think 5 cars, with only parts from ebay, and seeing how good the parts actually are... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
