1966 mustang and s13superdrifter22 05-19-2004, 10:39 PM i haven't posted any drawings lately due to the fact that i haven't really been drawing. i just finished both of these recently, the mustang was finished today. neither are shaded because im really bad at it and need help... the mustang is a drawing of my friend's car, and the s13 i found on the web. they were both drawn with the grid technique. teh mustang is probably the best drawing i've ever done. s13: http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v36/rollerboy22/art/s13.jpg 1966 mustang: http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v36/rollerboy22/art/66mustang.jpg i've got an enzo in the works, it will be posted when i finish... castback 05-19-2004, 10:45 PM finish those first they look good. superdrifter22 05-19-2004, 10:48 PM im not going to do anymore work on them, im not very good with shading and i need to practice. castback 05-19-2004, 10:51 PM lol...you need practice! every drawing i do is practice. i always improve. just try it out and see where it takes ya. if you are worried about screwing up your nice line drawings then trace YOUR drawing then shade it. castback 05-19-2004, 10:55 PM try out this tut...http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t104303.html but don't reply to it...its an old one superdrifter22 05-19-2004, 10:57 PM i kinda know how to shade, but when i tried it on one of my other drawings, it turned out wrong. i don't really know how to start...i can shade a sphere and everything, but its hard for me to shade cars. AirAllen01 05-19-2004, 11:33 PM Do u use reference photos? If so, post them up here and we can help you on the shading techniques. my experience with shading.... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=16062&password=&sort=1&cat=503&page=1 superdrifter22 05-19-2004, 11:36 PM yeah, i use ref photos. here they are: mustang: http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v36/rollerboy22/IM.jpg the pic is kind of crapy, its the only one my friend gave me. i had to look at other pics for the badges and interior. s13: http://www.aeroparts.co.jp/msports/car/s13_silvia_a_f.jpg AirAllen01 05-19-2004, 11:44 PM Well I have to say, you do excellent line drawings and proportions are great. We can start off with the exterior first. What I do, not sure about any others, but I very lightly mark off where my dark areas are gonna be at and leave those for later. What u might do for the mustang is bring the light source towards the front in the drawing, and lighten up the front end bringing out the crome more. First I lay down my light shades, in some larger areas I just put in light quick strokes (just all over the area, not trying to be neat) and then take a kleenex, or my finger and smooth the shade until it's an even shade across the area. superdrifter22 05-19-2004, 11:57 PM thanks, im gonna try that this weekend, i'll just print out another copy to try it on :) castback 05-20-2004, 01:27 AM hmmmm youll have to be creative with the shadows on themustang. find an other reference pic with the same angle and look off that one. the one you have now is too dark in the back and it has the basketball goal shadow in it. asaenz 05-20-2004, 02:36 AM Yup those line drawings are on point. Can't wait to see the shading. Hey, your teg is da-bomb. How many hours did you spend on that? Alfred bonzelite 05-20-2004, 05:00 AM excellent draftsmanship. great lines. excellent elipses. JDM S13 Silvia -excellent choice. awesome car. other than minor front fascia details, it rocks. mustang is awesome. a bit more is there than S13. but both are very strong. Ra_15 05-20-2004, 05:04 AM :iagree: Can't wait to see the mustang finished! GTmike400 05-20-2004, 07:52 AM Excellent out line. Now practice shading. you can always draw another car if you need to. But practice makes perfect. quarter_mile 05-20-2004, 08:01 AM Nice line drawings! can't wait to see them shaded! Oh and on your s13, the body needs to be lower and your lines are a bit sketchy:) superdrifter22 05-20-2004, 06:53 PM the lines look smoother on paper, but some of them are sketchy. im gonna shade the s13, and the mustang will eventually be shaded... and the teg took me over 30 hours. it was done over the coarse of 2 years. i worked on it off and on(mostly off). HighOctaneNOSUser 05-20-2004, 09:37 PM Whoa! Ok, you know that if it took you 30 HOURS! to get the lines down, it will take youk a mellenia to get down the shading... superdrifter22 05-21-2004, 12:22 AM Whoa! Ok, you know that if it took you 30 HOURS! to get the lines down, it will take youk a mellenia to get down the shading... i was talking about my integra model, not my art... bonzelite 05-21-2004, 12:31 AM the widebody integra, i must admit as a honda-hater, looks awesome. superdrifter22 05-21-2004, 12:47 AM thanks, but lets try to get back on topic. there is a separate thread for my teg, and dont post in it cause its old! Ra_15 05-21-2004, 03:01 AM LOL, I couldn't imagine anyone spending 30 hours on an outline! asaenz 05-21-2004, 06:57 AM i was talking about my integra model, not my art... hee hee hee HighOctaneNOSUser 05-21-2004, 11:20 AM Ohhh, I get it know. Cool. That is understandable. Ok, nokw I get it. So, then how lonbg exactly did you take on your drawing? superdrifter22 05-21-2004, 10:49 PM i took 2 hours on the mustang, and 1 on the s13. Ran 05-22-2004, 10:40 AM The first drawing is in need of some more detail, but the second 1 looks good IMHO. superdrifter22 05-22-2004, 01:09 PM yeah, the second one is a lot better(due to the fact that i spent more time on it) HighOctaneNOSUser 05-22-2004, 01:27 PM Ahh yes, the return of Ran. So, Ran, are you going to enter my contest that I am running? superdrifter22 05-22-2004, 11:01 PM i have decided that i wont shade these two cars :headshake, instead i am going to shade the enzo that i just finished. i will post it when i finish the shading. thanks for all of your tips...:bigthumb: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
