I got everything mounted to my engine and everything looked good so I start it up and the thing is really loud. So I look under the hood and I have a exhaust leak from between the head and manifold. So I tightened the nuts more and it still leaks. I thought that maybe the manifold was warped, so I took it off and found that there was a small crack in it, so I took another manifold I had and mounted it up and guess what the car is still leaking in the same spot and really loud. So my question is, am I doing something wrong here, is there some special torque sequence or something, anything? Thanks for any help.

When you take off the manifold do you have to get a new gasket or will the old one still work? I used the old one, it looked like it was in good shape, but I didnt know if when you torque the nuts down that the gasket will get smashed and not be the same thickness as a new one, which would make it leak. just an idea though

i was under the impression that you never reuse a gasket...

I was also it is just that it is full metal and it looked almost brand new, so I just used it. Do you think this could be why it is leaking?

do you think that the reason it is doing this, besides the gasket, is becuase either the head or the manifold might be warped? I hope its not, but I didnt know if it was common for the manifold to warp or something.

veary common for exhaust maniforld to warp over time.

I went and bought a new gasket and I am in the process of installing the manifold, does anyone know the torque specs for it?

Use anti-seize on the bolts :)

I think its 49 NM or 36ft/lb. Double check :)

I reuse those metal gaskets over and over. The one between the turbine housing and O2 housing was used on my car for 4 years, with countless turbo and removal/installs. BUT, if you had a leak there, the gasket can be ruined. So that may still be the right answer. Also be sure the nuts you are tightening arent pulling the stud out of the head. Stripped holes there are very common.
