PA laws?Allanon1313 05-19-2004, 05:12 PM does anybody here know of the laws in pa regarding window tint and extra lighting. Like whats the max tint level for car windows. What are the laws regarding neon under lighting? Anybody who knows, or knows where to check let me know. gasman03 05-20-2004, 07:54 PM In Allegheny County its no Neons one while the vehicle is in motion, but if the vehicle is stopped, and in park or nuetral, its OK (for shows and such), don't know what the max for window tinting is but Mirror tint is illegal, and if you get pulled over with it on your car, the cop may ask you to remove, or face another ticker Igovert500 05-21-2004, 03:23 AM I asked at Pepboys or something, I don't remember off the top of my head. But I believe most of it is illegal. But you can always just do it, I know mine is illegal, and I have a red sports car, and I still havn't had any trouble with it. Neons I am not sure, but regardless, if you get a ticket, take the stuff off, go to a courthouse, show them it has been taken off, they will drop the charges, you pay $30 for wasting their time, and you return home and put it back on. When in doubt, call you local PD(non-emergency #) and ask. 26B_600HP 05-25-2004, 02:48 PM In my township the tint has to have 70% of the light through. And I think the neons are legal but the cops are pricks and if they see you have them they will look for any reason to pull you over once you are driving again. Also the blue HID's are illegal too. The cops put a piece of paper in front of your headlights and if it looks blue you get a ticket. Igovert500 05-26-2004, 02:31 PM Also stay away from blue and red neons, cops don't like them, and I have heard of people(in other states) get ticketed for them. Still not sure about PA though. wandring_grl 09-26-2004, 03:03 PM From my experience, it depends on the cop, and, we've had some ticket people for 35% on their front windows. However, it is legal to tint your back windows, just not the driver and passenger, unless you get at least 40 to 45% vlt (visual light transmittance) It has been beaten in court here before, if you want the hassle of taking it to court! We're going to try the 45% and see what kind of attention we get from that Tint On!! lol Light meters are inadmissable in court! (they won't tell you that, though) Also, they can't legally make you take it off of all of your windows, just the driver and passenger. (again, only from my experience) RandomTask 09-26-2004, 05:28 PM VA window tinting laws Windshield (NO TINT) Front Side windows--50% Rear Side windows--35% Rear window--35% sometimes it makes no sense, you see these suv's coming out of the factory with pretty much pitch black tint, but thats ok...
