New to muscle car forum76455Firebird 05-17-2004, 03:56 PM Hey, been watching the forums and thought I'd introduce myself. I have a 76 firebird with a 455 and a 6-speed manual. Just wondered what you thought of my setup. koeb$ 05-29-2004, 01:45 AM what kind of tranny is it, richmond 76455Firebird 06-01-2004, 01:12 AM Nah, it's a tremec 73455transam 07-05-2004, 09:02 AM That sound like a great car. I would like to have a '73 so that you don't have to worry about all of the emissions regulations. landyacht 08-04-2004, 01:04 PM Welcome to forum! MrPbody 08-04-2004, 02:02 PM What's in the 455? How many miles on the setup to date? I suppose if it can take what the Viper V10 can make, it would have a fighting chance behind a 455... I've a couple T-5s tried, and they didn't last a month. Too much low-end torque. Went back to Muncies. Customers weren't willing to shell out for Richmond. Have you seen Jim Hand's new book? Just out a couple weeks now, and sold out across the country. The publisher wondered why all the fuss about the Pontiac V8. They (SA Designs) thought Pontiacs were like Olds and Buick, as the "also ran" or "point prover" crowd. Until they started doing their research, they didn't know the Pontiac was such a formidable power plant. They, like so many others, thought the only way to make a Pontiac fast was to put a Chevy motor in it. They stand corrected. For some more Pontiac-specific sites, try boyleworks.com and click on "muscle cars" or classiscalpontiac.com. Both of these have a tremendous amount of Pontiac-specific information. 76455Firebird 10-25-2004, 01:26 AM What's in the 455? How many miles on the setup to date? Right now, I've just eliminated the air conditioning, emissions equipment, flowmaster exhaust system, headers, intake, carb. Haven't done a lot on the internals, not sure what the guy before me did, but it's much faster than other firebirds i've played around with. I've got about 800 miles on the trans and it's great. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
