1999 Intrigue Cam Sensor

I was told I needed to replace the cam sensor on my Intrigue. I want to do this myself but do not know how to get to it...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced a CAM sensor on my 1999 Intrigue. You have to unbolt the coolant overflow and move it over to the side. This will give you access to the passenger side of the motor. If I remember correctly the sensor will be held in with a single bolt. Disconnect and unbolt the sensor, then connect the new sensor and bolt it back into the engine. It ony takes a few minutes to do this repair. I was surprised that it was this easy. AutoZone or Advanced Auto had a new sensor. One of them said it was dealer only and the other one could get it, but it was a special order. The ACDelco part was ~$20.00 dollars if I remember correctly. Disconnect the battery and reconnect it to clear the codes if it does not clear on its own. I disconnected the battery prior to the repair and then connected it back up after the repair.

My husband replaced mine, but Jonshandle sounds right for installation. The part was a bit more expensive though, I had a difficult time getting it and had to go to the dealer for at least one of the sensors. My crankshaft sensor also went bad and I had to repalce that as well. It seems it happens to Intrigues, Cam and Crank sensors conk out after about 80K, and usually one happens not long after the other. The car will still run with one bad sensor (it just tends to stall at low speeds and stops since it can't regulate the RPMS), but if the other goes out at the same time, you are kind of in a bind.

Would the 2000 Intrigue Cam sensor be located on the passenger side behind the coolant overflow as well?

Last week my ride threw a couple P0340 Bank 1 Cam sensor errors while having a difficult time starting. This weekend I purchased a Borg Warner CSS115 replacement sensor for $30 or so, and just now looked behind the coolant tank. The sensor I see there isn't the same as what I just bought: the original "plugs" in 1-1.5" or so, while the one I have only inserts < 1/4". Was I given the wrong sensor?

I'll definitely be buying a service manual soon, but I'd like to fix this sensor now rather than wait until I get stranded somewhere.

I'll answer my own question for the benefit of anyone else who has this problem.

The 2000 Intrigue cam sensor is located on the passenger side behind the coolant overflow, like it is on previous makes.

The sensor for the 2000 is different than the 98, though, and it ran me ~$40 to purchase.
