Looking for info on VVT, L & I, etc....john_mgd 05-14-2004, 09:07 PM Hey, I fell in love with Celicas when a guy I started hangin out with a guy at work that had an 89. The thing had over 130K on it and could still spin the tires and go 117+ no prob =) Anyways I want to know what it's like to drive one of the 7th gens with VVT or VVTL or VVTL-I. I live in BFE Michigan and the nearest Toyota dealer is 100 miles away, so a test drive would take some planning. I've read about the VVT and kind of understand what is happening in the engine but I just want to know what it's like to drive. Is the basic concept higher RPM = more HP, on a much steeper curve than normal? I've heard it's great for passing power anyways =) Well let me know eh? tia Crippy 05-18-2004, 07:32 PM variable valve timing and electronic lift ... pretty much an entirely different cam grind once you hit a certain rpm , you notice a change in engine sound , and vehicle speed , because the valves open up alot wider to allow more air flow ... i wouldnt mind trying out the celica VVT-I system myself ... i have VTEC vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
