Howdy:
I have a 96 towncar and love it. But I have a noise of a flapper in the air ducts under the dash that drive me nuts. It bangs about once per second. :banghead: I think this is a vacume problem, but not sure.. :loser:
Does anyone else know of this problem and have a good easy fix for it..
I figure if I take it into the dealer, I'll have a $5.00 part and $1000.00 labor bill handed to me. Not to say nothing under the dash will be working again
Thanks for any help

Bad news NVT.. :banghead:
Your flapping vent is caused by a broken Blend Door Actuator. :banghead:
This little piece of engineering is a real BITCH to replace. If your into saving big bucks, and enjoy ripping your whole dash out it can be done with simple garage tools.
As you suspected, the part itself is relatively cheap and the labor runs into 10+ hours for a first timer. With experience I've heard you can get the job done in about 5 hours.
Bigmac at LincolnsOnline.com (http://www.lincolnsonline.com) has done it several times, and wrote up a very nice Tech. Article with pictures and all, of the whole process.

Good Luck.
