Wheel noise

I've noticed when I'm driving I have a noise coming from my left front wheel, kind of a whining noise. It's worse when I turn left, and disappears when I turn right. Could it be a bad wheel bearing?

yeah i have the same sound. its not the wheel its something in the engine. my dad tried to find out on mine but cant. he thinks it maybe be the power steerin cause liek i hear it louder than normal when turning left up my drive way. but after ur car is warmed up u wont hear it. i dunno what it is.

I hear mine even after the car is warmed up. For instance, today I drove about 45 miles to see my grandmother, and drove home, and I was almost home and was still hearing it. I don't think mine is in the engine, it definitely sounds like it's coming from the left front wheel.

I have the same problem.Squeeking noise coming from the left wheel,it never goes away even when it warms up.I thought I might need new brake pads.

I don't think mine is brake pads, the pads on this car aren't very old, and there's no surface damage on the rotors, they don't vibrate.

My instincts are telling me wheel bearing.

Likely you are right, its the wheel bearing. I have had a couple of GM fwd cars that have done the same thing.

Yup, most probable is the wheel bearings. Could be both the inside and outside bearings

It could possibly be tire noise as well. Jack the left front wheel up and hold the wheel at the 12 and 6 o'clock possitions, and try and wiggle it, there should be no play. if there is no play, the W/B (wheel bearing) is probably good. You could try move the left front tire to another possition on the car, like the Right Rear. see is the noise changes with the tire change, if it does then it is the tire.

If the noise stays the same regardless of the surface it is not tire noise. WHen you drive over asphalt and then over cement the tire noise should change but the wheel bearing noise should stay the same

It's always the same, regardless of whether I'm on blacktop, cement, gravel, whatever. And always worse when I'm turning left, and disappears when I'm turning right.

I do not remember but if it quites when the the steering wheel is turned to one side just one is broken. I think is the outer one in your case but you should replace both anyways.

This is definitely a wheel bearing going bad. I had a Pontiac Grand Am that as long as I drove it straight it worked fine but when I turned either right or left the noise got worse. This is a tough job to replace so take it to a service center or dealer.

wheelbearing happened to me twice my brother twice and a buddy once.... change it out the noise will most likely go away it did for us!

I'm taking the car to the dealership tomorrow for an oil change, having them replace a fog light bulb while I'm there, and gonna have them check the wheel bearing. I'm leaving Saturday and going to Panama City for 6 days, and I kinda gotta have my car.

Aren't GTP's great, lol, they all seem to have very similar problems if anything goes wrong with them. My '92 gtp is doing the exact same thing. I first thought it was just the really wide tires (245) that would be making all that noise, but every time I take a left, it sounds like a loud, deep wurring noise. I take as many rights as I can to avoid this problem.
If it is the wheel bearing, it will cost around $90 give or take to replace. As soon as you get it replaced, go into a parking lot and test it out. If it still does it, post back on here, because I have to get that done too.

Well, the verdict is in. They said my wheel bearing is bad. Peachy. I'm going in the morning to have it replaced. And it's substantially more than $90 to fix, try over $500 (unless you've got connections, and they warranty it off of something else and you don't have to pay a dime :D)
