Check the fuel rail and see if you got a schrader valve (valve where you connect a fuel pressure gauge). It is recommended you got a fuel pressure gauge to determine if you got fuel pressure. However, you can try to determine if there is some pressurized fuel in the fuel rail by pressing the schrader valve while the ignition switch is on the RUN position to see if there is fuel squirting.

You can also try to listen for the fuel pump operation (whirring noise in the gas tank when you turn the ignition switch to RUN position).

Locate the fuel pump relay/fuse section and there should be dangling wire usually red and you can use that to power the fuel pump directly with the 12 volt source from the battery to see if the fuel pump would even work. Try cranking the engine to see if the engine starts running. It might just be a defective fuel pump relay or defective fuel pump fuse.

You can also narrow down to fuel related problem by removing the intake tube going to the throttle body and squirt some starting fluid and try cranking the engine to see if the engine stay running for a couple of seconds.

COuld it be the rotor or distributor cap?
I dont know how to properly diagnose where the problem is...What fairly simple tests can I do to determine where the problems lies exacly...Ive been asking people and i get alot of reasons what it could be from carburator to sparkplugs to distributor to timing belt....I need to know which so I can fix it ASAP...

Is your vehicle V6 2.8 Liter Carbureted not Fuel Injected?

The distributor cap and rotor just help transfer the spark to the individual spark plug wire then to the spark plug.

First, you need to know if you got spark coming from the ignition coil. You need to purchase an adjustable gap spark tester with a clip at your local autoparts store. All you got to do is disconnect the spark plug wire between the ignition coil and the center top of the distributor cap. Just disconnect the top center spark plug wire on the distributor cap and leave the end connected to the ignition coil. Connect the adjustable gap spark tester on the end of that disconnected spark plug wire and clip it to the engine block. You might want to clip the adjustable gap spark tester on the engine block that you can see while trying to crank the engine in the driver seat.

Carburetor is easy to figure out if it is getting fuel or not. You just remove the carburetor cover (air horn) and see if there is a fuel in the fuel bowl inside the carburetor. If the fuel bowl is empty then you know that either the fuel pump is not working or the fuel filter is clogged up. It is easy to replace the fuel filter. If the fuel bowl is empty, try pouring some gas into the fuel bowl and cover back the carburetor and test it. If it works now then you know that the fuel is not being delivered to the carburetor.
