turbo/engine questionkugstrand18 05-07-2004, 10:22 AM I bought a 1994 acura integra gsr with 143000 miles on it. The kid i bought it from said that the car still after so many miles has great compression and the car runs perfect. only thing wrong is it burns just a little oil, my question is i have about $4200 and i want to but a greddy turbo kit on. i want to know if it would be safe and what should i do to make the engine stronger so it can support the turbo better and have a longer life. I also would like to know if you people that know what to do with my car has 4200 dollars how would you spend it like engine internaly Tranzlogic 05-08-2004, 01:44 PM well fist you have to take into consideration hoe reliable honda engines are and that 143,00 is the same as about 70k on a ford, chrysler, chevy so forth.. so in all relness yes it could take a small ammount of boost and still be reliable, but you also have to consider the fact that the GSR has higher compression so your already limited to small boost ammounts as it is...as far as teh oil burning its more than likely valve seals which isnt expensive nor that hard to do. down to the question, if i had 4200 what would i do I would replace those valve seals of course throw in a set of crower turbo or ITR cams eagle H-beam rods Arias 6:5 1 pistons deck and sleeve it ( darton or golden eagle ) ARP bolts and so forth new head gasket ( dont go oversize ) ITR , skunk2 or victor X intake manifold new T-belt ( maybe even the toda or greddy ) a top end gasket rebuild kit and whatever complete Greddy turbo kit it was you said you wanted you can do all this for the 4200 at hand if you shop around on the parts the reason for the top end gasket kit,t-belt and so forth is that since this engine is getting higher in milage you might as well freshen her up thats only common sence theres alot of other things i would also do, but fore the 4200 allotted that is a great start for what you want if you had anymoney left over or maybe add a lil bit in if needed i would consider putting in crower or Skunk2 valve springs, valves and so forth also an LSD because your gonna want to hook up as best you can YellowITR479 05-08-2004, 02:03 PM Just go by my buildup, cost about the same ammount but I storgly suggest an AEM EMS or Hondata cause I am having alot of problems with my SAFC, car keep cutting out at the top of 3rd gear. I have to turn the car off real quick and turn it back on and its find, but a real pain in the ass when you are going down the track YellowITR479 05-08-2004, 02:04 PM and you got OBD-1 also, go with the hondata kugstrand18 05-08-2004, 04:41 PM Alright man thanks for all the help i am going to get working on the crap right away i want to make this car pretty quick so i will talk to the kid who does my work on my engine and see what he says about this your a lifesaver. Tranzlogic 05-10-2004, 05:41 PM hey yellow hows that LS tranny workin out for ya ? crossed between GSR or LS myself vtec92civic 05-15-2004, 09:55 AM dude people come here for good info not wrong info . . . there is no such thing as 6:5:1 Arias Pistons, and that would be retarded anyways to put something with such low compression in like that even if theyw ere made . . . you wouldn't make crap for power even with boost. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
