Thourun 07-12-2004, 11:54 PM When are ford engines made to fall apart? Is it 75K or 100K? UnexplodedCow 03-13-2005, 03:53 AM What about the 3.0 v6? Or did I accidentally skip over that one? No, ford engines, in my experience, have lasted well over 100k. My old Tempo (RIP) had 255k on it, didn't leak or burn oil...but burned the tires nicely. Infinitrium 03-13-2005, 02:40 PM What about the 3.0 v6? Or did I accidentally skip over that one? No, ford engines, in my experience, have lasted well over 100k. My old Tempo (RIP) had 255k on it, didn't leak or burn oil...but burned the tires nicely. Well lemme see.. I had an 87 F150 with the 300 six-banger, that had about 290,000 kms. Rear main seal leaked, and low compression on number 1 cylinder. I sold it to a neighbour, and he drove it for 4 more years before he changed out the engine. I also had an 88 Tempo wih the HO 2.3 and that had something like 249,000 kms. I abused that engine on a regular basis, but it never complained, and it always started right up, no matter how long it sat or how cold it was outside. My mother had an 85 Tempo, with the carb'ed 2.3, can't remmber how many miles it had, but it was high. Engine ran nice, no noise, and that one started right up every time without fail. My brother had a 93 Taurus with the 3 liter V6, the motor was the best part of that car. My very first car was a 1980 Fairmont with the 255 V8. Since the transmission only worked in first and second gear, rarely in third, I drove around at 55 mph in 2nd most of the time, and one time I drove 75mph for about 30 minutes in 2nd gear. The ol' 255 seemed to run a bit rough after that, but that was it. Now I don't know if you just have had bad luck with Ford motors, but in my family's experience, the motor was the best part of the Ford car. UnexplodedCow 03-30-2005, 12:33 AM If we're counting kilometers, then my car had over 410km on it when I flipped it doing 70, and 3 days later, once it was right side up again, the engine cranked over on the second try (fuel inertia switch kicked the pump off, and I didn't remember it at first). Doc_Ratchet 04-19-2005, 01:36 PM I4=1.9-2.0-2.3 V6=2.5 and so on You forgot to mention the 2.2 man! stainless1 04-19-2005, 04:32 PM need all info on fasteners on the outside of these motors--(what goes to what and sizes with quanties or send to us to measure ) 4.6 5.4 V-8-----2.9--- 3.0-- 3.8-- 4.0-- 4.2 V-6----I4- 2.5--V4-- 2.2 we will give kit (one kit) for each engine info provided to us in stainless steel DRW1000 05-15-2005, 11:10 AM 240-300 I-6 260 289 302 330 351C 351W 351M 352 360 361 370 390 391 400 406 410 427 428 429 460 4.6 5.4 V-8 2.9 3.0 3.8 4.0 4.2 V-6 don't know about I-4's The 260 289 302 351W are all winsor engines The 351M and 400 are modified series 351C was kinda on its own The 330 352 360 361 390 391 406 410 427 428 were FE series, The 330 361 and 391 were trucks motors with steel cranks. And I have a 2.0L I4 diesel in my little topaz. 300,000+km and still running strong DRW1000 05-27-2005, 08:25 PM At one time it was going into what was to become the Mustang. It was mid-engined. A Mustang concept in the early sixties DRW1000 05-27-2005, 08:57 PM Here is a quote from a Mustang book I Have: " The original Mustang was preceded by several prototypes, among them the Mustang I. It bowed in 1962 as a two seater on a 90 inch wheelbase. Mounted amidships in its tubular frame and driveing the rear wheels was a 1927 cc V-4 that made 90 bhp at 6500 rpm. The powertrain was from a still born Ford sub-compact that would have used a front engine, front drive layout" OverBoardProject 05-27-2005, 09:38 PM Can you imagine what the sports cars would be like today if Ford would have used that design. There would probably be no Comaro (I know that they don't make them anymore), The Chevy performance car would actually be simular to the Ferio. We'd most likely be driving small little turbo charged 4 and 6 bangers. What would the Japanese do, make turbo Lawn mower motors and have them put out 300hp in cars? That would be weird! badasstour 10-15-2005, 12:52 AM i didnt know that ford made a V4 i have a 85ford F250 with 400000 miles on with a 351W still runs like a raped date till i killed the four speed on a stump vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
