I have a 1983 GMC 4X4 Drum brakes on the back, one shoe lining is smaller that the other where does it go? Towards the front or the back

Thanks

Small shoe towards the front

GMMerlin is correct. The smaller shoe is always on the front. The rear shoe is made larger because it functions on "servo action." Because of the way the rear shoe is hinged, the shoe is pulled into the drum. If both shoes were the same size, the rear shoe would be worn-out first.
