I have a 91 escort GT with 172,000 and the other day I put it in reverse then 1st and that was the only gear I had after that. Please help.

Check linkages from shifter to tranny, make sure connected.

All linkages check ok.

When is the last time you had your clutch replaced?

Also check your fluid.
