Whining Sounddjchristensen 04-29-2004, 06:58 PM Just wondering that I have a high pitch sound coming from the engine compartment. It starts going higher as you go faster and at about 50 miles an hour, it is barely audible. Just some insight. KatWoman 05-01-2004, 12:47 PM My 97 Neon had it too. We never were able to figure out what it was. It went on for several years. Everything under the hood was kosher, so my guess is it was just a quirk. 5spd 05-02-2004, 12:49 PM Try the belt auto tensioner. 88ReX 05-02-2004, 10:39 PM Damn someone must have slipped ya the srt-4 model and didn't say anything. MStout 05-04-2004, 06:15 PM Youre probably hearing the fuel pump. FuriousMachine95 05-05-2004, 10:07 PM the fuel pump isnt' in the engine compartment. xs29l 05-12-2004, 12:40 AM We have two 2000 neons. One whines like you said and the other one doesn't. Still they are awesome engines. I spoke with a junk yard owner the other day who has about 13 of the 2000 style cars and he said he has never sold an engine out of one!! That says something! bush102 05-17-2004, 08:46 PM The compony I work for Is all Dodge and lots of neons on track all day, new cars every year, no noises even after the abuse. Don't know what it could be. MStout 05-18-2004, 02:16 AM I know its not in the engine bay but I thought my whine was coming from there, and thats all it was. Im sure theirs sound diff. 9neon5 05-27-2004, 11:53 PM vaccume hose problem? maybe vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
