Speed is just an indicator of how much time and money you want to spend. It is not an indicator of the quality of a car.

i just want to know how much the stock 4 cylinder camry takes to run the quarter.

Go to the library and look up an old edition of Motor Trend.

I have a '99 and mine is pretty quick. I haven't really done all that much to it either, pretty much stock. According to most of the people around here it's one of the fastest 4 cylinders around these parts...I want to go and put it on the dyno sometime...

Be careful - don't break the dyno...

Here's a clue - In another thread, a turbocharged 2.2 L ran high 14s.

Yeah, I should get that high-flow cat added to that list...might as well get once since I just got the muffler not too long ago. lol

The camry is to heavy of a car to drag. Most people buy camry's for their superior long life and ride. If you're concerned with speed Civic's, GTI's, or Camaro's are what to get. I own a 69 Chevelle w/ 500HP and never even dreamed of taking my 92 Camry 4cy onto the track. But you have me wondering what it would get. Front wheel drive. lol I'm betting about 25second.

And if the Camry is way too heavy to drag, that's when you chop off some unnecessary parts that are weighing it down. Replace some of the OEM stuff with Aftermarket that's lighter. I've lightened up quite a bit on my Camry, and its been going a little faster than before. All I need now are a few engine upgrades and I'll be set.

What kind of OEM parts can u replace to make it lighter? I don't have a clue.

Just about anything you can think of...almost. You can change almost everything from the seats to even the ECM brackets...plus, you can remove quite a bit of stuff too...like if you decide that you don't use something, just rip it out...(well not literally "rip") let's say take it out. Also, another thing that weighs you down quite a bit, the amount of fuel you have in your tank. Most Camrys have about a 17 gal tank, and fuel weighs a pretty good few pounds per gallon. I usually ride around with about a half tank or quarter tank, either or...the lighter the better.

how about the spare tire?

The spare tire, passenger seat, rear seats, all kinds of stuff. If you willing to sacrifice your goodies for speed, then the possibilities are almost limitless..that is until you run out of shit to take off your car...lol

It's easier to buy a lighter car.

Easier, but not cheaper...

best thing to take out is the A/C instant 20-35 HP i've heard. But yea everything can be removed. take a look at all the race cars like nascars and junk. All the have a a odometer, clutch and driver's seat nothing further then that i think.

Come on, all you have to do is sell the Camry and buy a lighter car with more horsepower. You have a choice on how much you want to spend. Don't forget, for everything you take off, you lose function.

A Camry is not a cost-efficient or time-efficient start for a performance car. Get one with the good stuff put in at the factory. Work from there, not from a passenger car with a poor suspension.

Yep, if you're willing to sacrifice that nice cool air during a scorching summer it will shave about 50 lbs off the car...reduces 0-60 time by almost a second...so I've heard...
