Hello to all, new to this. Is it possible to swap a crate v8 into a 1986 4.3 el camino with at and stay smog legal? Is it a easy swap and where mite i find out more info on the above mentioned swap. Thanks

I know its possible. I've seen many examples of it myself. as for keeping it smog legal, just get an engine with the pollution control stuff. The general rule with swapping a v6 to v8 is also swapping the entire v8 drivetrain. Other than that, new mounts, bellhousing, exhaust, fan shroud, and im not sure about ignition. Thats about all i know for that. A good resource is cardomain.com. Look up people with el caminos that have done the engine swap and ask them.

This is from another el camino forum where someone mentioned a v8 swap. A bunch of posts here. Someone also replies with a site maliburacing.com which has some real good tech stuff and lots of links. Hell, if u want to put a big block in ucan check here.

You will also need the computer for the V8. Easiest would to be find a donor car. Have everything you need that way.
