I've got a 93 pathfinder and today I was accelerating on the highway, well it should have downshifted when I did this but it didn't, the tranny stayed in fourth gear. I also noticed after this happened that the heater wasn't blowing anymore, my overdrive button wouldn't work or display the light on the dash. I made it to a friends house, shut it off to check under the hood. When I tried to start it again it wouldn't turn over and the dummy lights on the dash won't come on either. headlights, radio, pwr windows and locks and seat heaters are still working, checked all fuses and relays and they are ok. Is this the computer that went out?

Is your alternator working?

I haven't checked it yet. but I did try to jump it and still no luck. I would think that it should still start even if it were the alternator.

It's not the computer. It's your battery plain and simple. It's shorted internally, that's why no idiot lights came on such as your alt light. good luck!

Well, I found one fuse this morning that was blown and after replacing it everything worked fine, but once again it crapped out later on in the evening after hitting a bump, could that still be the battery?

sounds like a short in the circuit that blows the fuse.

you guys should check out NPORA.com for mechanical issues... some great input over there as well as this board. Just like a DR. - you should always get a second opinion...

...or 3rd, or 4th....

It is a short in a wire that runs to the tranny on the passanger side it will get on the manifold and melt. I been there done that!

Could you tell me the exact location of this wire? This problem is the worst I've ever had with a car and after spending 400 dollars at nissan, all they could tell me was that I had a gremlin.
