Power window problem

Hello all

I just purchased a 1999 Intrigue and so far I am loving it. One problem though, my rear drivers side power window does not work. I have taken the door trim off and cleaned the connector to the motor. I can hear a small click like noise when I try to roll the window up or down and that is it (and the noise is coming from somewhere behind the metal not the window switch). Anything else I can try before declaring the motor dead?

Been looking over these forums the past few days and there is a lot of helpful informartion here.

if ur hearing a click, more likely than not, the motor is out. id suggest buying a motor/regulator assembly and replacing it now.

Bad motor. Try tapping it with a small hammer, wrench, etc. to verify...

I have a 2000 intrigue with window problems, Do they have the same motors?

Check the weatherstripping around the edges of all the windows. My back ones seem to stick the most. Over time the weatherstripping starts to stick to the glass. I think it is just sticky enough to keep the window from operating. Gently insert a credit card or some other thin flat piece of plastic between the glass and weatherstripping and slowly run it around the edges. A little water may help. You may see a little black residue on the glass where the weather strip contacts the glass. Clean this off and keep the glass clean. This may save you the $$ for new motors. Good luck!

I found a new aftermarket motor and regulator from a company on ebay cheeper then anywhere else.

Just worked on my '99 left rear. Window would not move either way,no click or anything else. With the trim off I finally noticed it would work intermittently depending on the position of the wire bundle - not a good sign mind you i.e. frayed/broken wire in bundle. I was able to wire tie the bundle in a "workable" position and left it as such. Working fine presently.

Not a terribly scientific fix, but a fix nonetheless.

The dealer had to replace the harness on the right rear window of my old 99 intrigue because of intermittent operation. It would appear that this is a common thing with this car.

How did they determine that it was the harness?! And this solved the problem, evidently?
