I have a 96' Nissan pathfinder 4wd 5speed.. i dont have the keyless remote. I bought it used and the dealership that bought it didnt get the remote from whom ever they got it from.. MY problem is some time it start and some times it doesnt.. I lock it with the lock on the inside when I am getting out and the close the door when I unlock it with the key the alarm turn off as soon as I open the door though the alarm light flashes and the engine is dis enabled Nissan says yeah we will "look" at it for 120$ not fix it... I think what is wrong with it is something to do with the alarm cause some time it will start and some times it wont.. Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix it I have had the truck 4 weeks and havent been able to enjoy it it 2 in a half weeks?? I order a keyless remote from Nissan could that or should that fix my problem.. and is it possible to program the remote myself? :banghead: PLEASE HELP Another thing when the alarm disenables the engine.. or sets off it doesnt sound the horn or flash the head light just the censor light in side blinks??? :eek7:I have the same trouble even if I lock the door with the key.. as soon as I open the door the alarm light starts to flicker.. If I dont look it with the switch on the inside I have to lock all the door manually and then do it with the key and the same thing happens.. I order the keyless remote and someone told me that it should work then

Sure doesn't sound like you are setting off the alarm then if the horn is not going off. If you shut your door first then lock it, the alarm will not arm. You could unhook the keyless entry module located under the dash if you still feel that's the problem.

I really think you have some other major problem with the car and you have the dealer trying to stick you.

That is what I was thinking but I am ordered the keyless remote and will see if that works.. IF not I have a electrical person that said he can disconnect the alarm all together but it will take him a couple hours and he wants 120$ to do that

:uhoh: not sure what you are saying here exactly but try to turn off the alarm if you think that's causing your non starting problems (?) I don't think that the alarm cuts off the engine though.

With a Factor alarm when it is set off that disable the engine.. So say someone was breaking into your vehicle and the alarm went off they couldnt start the vehicle because it disarmed the engine.. The prblem I am having is when I lock the door and then close it then unlock the door as soon as I open the door the alarm light is flashing and I cant start my truck..

If they want $120 to disable the alarm they are crazy. It only takes about 10 minutes. Like I said, I do not think it is the factory alarm that's your problem.

Have you tried to unlock the car from the passenger side keylock when this happens? There is a disarm wire in each of the front doors.

Glad to hear you found the problem but like I said before, I really didn't think it was an alarm problem.

Hey, glad to hear that you found your prob.
Doesn't the alarm disarm when you put and then turn the key in the ingnition? There should also be a button to totaly turn the thing off.

BTW, have your bro show you how he did the tapping on the starter. You may have to do that sometime.

G luck,

mkz, not all alarms disarm when you turn the ignition on. Really, it would be pointless if it did. All a theif would need to do is break the ignition switch out and turn it on.

....nutty,

That's how the alarms on the pathys that i've owned worked. How else would you disarm it?

All you really have to do is disconnect the baterry to cut power so that's easier then bustin the ignition, if I was a thief.

just wondering....

Many vehicles only disarm via remote control and also key in either front door lock. I do not work on many Nissans anymore so I do not know completely about your car.

Yes, cutting or unhooking the battery cable works too but I was talking about how to steal the whole car. Most of the time they use a cordless drill with a lag bolt and run it right into the ignition switch until the cam lock breaks. Then the car will start.
