NOS Good or Bad ?BBD 05-06-2001, 05:00 PM thinking about getting a NOS system for my car ,,, its a newly V8, I hate superchargers and Turbos wont fit because of no one does it for my car ,, anyways am thinking about going with a Nitrouse Oxide System ,, I dont have much experiance in it, I know how it works and how good potentialy it can be.. But all the web sites I been too only lists how great it can be I want to read something about the dangers of installing the NOS. EG how often can I use it, how long can it be used for, how residues form in the cylinder etc. SolReaver 05-06-2001, 05:06 PM It depends, in your case go for it since there are no turbo or SC kits for your car. Personaly I don't like it. It is a cheap way of getting hp. Have you thought of N/A tuning? BBD 05-06-2001, 09:08 PM heyaa Sol again ,, you mean like cams pistons etc. well yes but not many people specialize in Tuneing a Lexus GS400 V8,, and the people that do modify them, only came up with a supercharger and Air intake system whitch is bad because NO ONE made a high preformance Chip for it which allows More Air and Fuel Mixtuer in the engine ,, I know its bad thats why I am thinking of NOS SolReaver 05-06-2001, 09:21 PM Oh a Lexus, very nice, but isn't it tubo charged already? If it is maybe you could get someone to tweak it. Like Blue Ribbon. SolReaver 05-06-2001, 09:30 PM I thought I stop the last post of mine. what year is your Lexus? I found a site click here (http://www.ptuning.com/) check it out BBD 05-06-2001, 10:26 PM my lexus is a GS400 year 1999, its non Turbo ,, from the US.. its ok hard to make faster thanks for the site enzo@af 05-06-2001, 11:30 PM Hey, Solreaver...I really like that Del Sol as your avatar. SolReaver 05-07-2001, 05:02 PM Thanks but it's not mine. I don't even own a car. I'm hoping to get a Sol as my first car. I have to get a job this summer to be able to do that. enzo@af 05-08-2001, 03:49 AM When I was buying a car I wanted a Del sol really badly...however, insurance would have been 404 a month! No thanks. flylwsi 05-10-2001, 07:00 PM nos is ok... you cant run it for too long, as long as exhaust temps dont get above 1200 you should be ok... no residue probs or anything... it is all good... go to www.rodmillenstore.com they have tuning stuff for the gs400 it is sweet shit there... but nitrous is ok... as long as you dont lean it out... use a zex style kit that keeps the a/f ratio close to stock, or use a wet setup like nitrous works that adds fuel along with nitrous... this ensures that it wont lean out... both kits are 509... and i sell em both, so i know they work... check em out... Chris 05-10-2001, 07:14 PM NOS is good because of the extra Oxygen. A chip would really help, or you could mabee trick the engine. IT is possibel, but would require a tuner. But you can afford that, you Lexus-owner you. Why don't you liek super-chargers? Oh well, NOS is good, but it won't last super long. It can give you good acceleration, or passing, or a bit more top-end, but it might run-out. It is jsut a 'quick power fix' Personally, I would get the blower, air-intake and try really hard for a chip or re-programmed computer. I would also have NOS for those 'power-hungry' times:) DVSNCYNIKL 05-13-2001, 04:54 PM The main or only disadvantage is that prolonged use of it, can damage the engine by wearing parts sooner. Not saying that a few shots and your engines dead. Just prolonged, over-time use. So use it sparingly. Chris 05-13-2001, 06:58 PM Yah, NOS can be tough. It is 33% Oxygen, anbd pure oxygen would make your car explode. The explosions are so much bigger and more violent. But hey, Nitrous can always be used as laughing gas, so its dual-purpose. YEEEAAE.:o darkaccord 06-29-2003, 10:21 PM In my opinion, its extremely overrated. The only way it would be worth the money, would be if you drag raced. There are many things you can spend your money on, that would be more useful. 454Casull 07-01-2003, 11:37 AM Originally posted by Chris Yah, NOS can be tough. YEEEAAE.:o Are you advocating self-injury? There's a reason why people don't inhale automotive nitrous. ivymike1031 07-01-2003, 11:49 AM they usually add putrifying agents... BeEfCaKe 07-01-2003, 05:07 PM wow... 2 year old thread BBD 07-02-2003, 07:12 PM Hell yaa old thread I got rid of that GS400 went for a Skyline GTR34 and I have been running N2O on it for almost 6 months now with great results :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
