94 Ranger tranny issue???

I have a 94 ranger 5 spd, 4X4, 3.0.

Yesterday when I left work, the truck was in the parking lot in reverse. I started it up, with the clutch to the floor, and it started to move backwards slowly.

Once I got backed out, I pushed the clutch in and tried to shift to first. The tranny would not go into first gear. When I tried to force the shifter into gear, the truck would start to move forward a little.

I finally got home by killing the engine then shifting to gear I needed and starting engine. After I started moving foward, it never did it again.

What could this be?
Please keep in mind that we just put a new clutch kit and pilot bearing in this truck in the fall of last year.

I,ve heard of slave cylinder causing this. Any fluid leak?

If there is fluid leaking, I see no sign of it anywhere.

Check fluid level, but from what I've heard it sounds like the slave cylinder going bad. Try pumping clutch pedal 10-15 times & see if it will go into gear easier.

sounds like low fluid in the clutch master cylender, check slave cylender.

I have had to get the Slave changed on my 94 ranger 2 times. So I would look into that. Try checking the cluth master resivoir and make sure it has enough fluid in it, then bleed the line (there is a bleeder screw on the driver side of the transission housing). But if the slave is bad, you will need to drop the tranny and get it changed out.
