Newbie FC Turbo questionsGo4Long 04-21-2004, 01:10 AM I am importing an 89 Turbo II rx7 from japan, it should be in transit by the end of next week...I was looking at the racing beat turbo back exhaust for the car, Racing Beat claims 59 hp and it increases the boost to 11psi without further control...is this correct...seems pretty wild. Also, another site indicated that in order to do this mod I must also do fuel pump and injectors, is this correct? seems like a lot of work just to do the exhaust... what would be the best first mods to do? the car only has 50'000 kms on it so I am not overly concerned with the motor going right away...so give me some ideas... Soyo 04-21-2004, 07:15 PM the exhaust from racing beat is awesome, I am actually looking into getting one when I get a TII. fuel injectors and fuel pump should be upgraded, if not I think it will put too much stress on them and then they'll go out and you'll have to get new ones anyways. Go4Long 04-22-2004, 08:40 AM if I upgrade the injectors won't I need to put somethin on to control them? I thought that just putting on a fuel pump and injectors would mess up your fuel mixture... Soyo 04-22-2004, 04:17 PM yea you'll need an air fuel controller turboii87rx7 04-22-2004, 09:51 PM i could be mistaken, but i think that the reason that it will increase boost is bc of boost creep, which is NOT a good thing. With teh extra flow, your boost will continue to rise bc the wastegate cant keep up. It is better to port the wastegate and then raise the boost on your own. I have a 3" turboback exhaust, and b4 i got my wastegate ported, i would watch my boost rise to almost 15-16 psi.... which is way to high for the stock turbo. And yes, you will definately need to upgrade your fuel system... pump, injectors, controller. 720cc secondaries w/ stock primaries is a good setup to go with. Also look into the Rtek 7 chip.... it has a lot of good features that will help your engine if you decide to run higher boost. Go4Long 04-22-2004, 11:05 PM ok...15 psi is to high for the stock turbo...but what is the most boost the motor can safely take? I am lookin at the Profec B as a means of boost control...and apexi S-AFC for fuel management... as for the injectors...any particular brand or style I should go with? are they top feed or side feed?(My car is still sittin on the docks in japan...so I can't just look under the hood to find these things out myself) Go4Long 04-23-2004, 12:10 AM on another note...here is a couple pics of my car... http://www.importconcern.ca/stock/100020/ is there any way to tell if it is a turbo II or just the first turbo? someone said that if the build date was early enough in 89(this one was built in february) that it might not be a turbo II Aruba27 04-23-2004, 01:13 AM wait a second.... since when do RX-7s have rear seats? Go4Long 04-23-2004, 01:17 AM hehe....I didn't know that they didn't have back seats here in North america...I am more surprised that you didn't ask why the drivers seat is on the right side... flex339 04-23-2004, 02:22 AM they made some 2+2 s4's turboii87rx7 04-23-2004, 10:35 AM you will have to port the wastegate for sure. A boost controller can only increase boost. If you experience boost creep, then the controller will not be able to lower it. Go4Long 04-23-2004, 11:21 AM supposedly the turbo on there has been upgraded...although I don't know how to tell that...is it usually stamped on the housing? what is the stock turbo? Go4Long 04-23-2004, 11:33 AM also...no one has answered about what the maximum boost that the motor can take is flex339 04-23-2004, 02:15 PM depends on how long you want it to live. :) Soyo 04-23-2004, 04:47 PM http://www.rxecret7.com/fuelinjectors.html theres some good injectors as far as I know Go4Long 04-24-2004, 01:00 AM for an FC? all the cars I see on there are FD's...also...if I just wanted to switch out the secondaries, what do I need, side feed or top feed? I hear 720CC is what I want...and for the fuel pump should I get the walbro 190LP/h or 255LP/h vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
