sealed, ported, or bandpassmaasimo 04-19-2004, 04:50 PM i just wanna know what everyones opinion is on speaker boxes. whats the best one:sealed, ported, or bandpass? i have heard that u might lose sound quality with some but i wanna know different opinions GSteg 04-19-2004, 08:38 PM best for what? personally, i don't like boxes because i need trunk space, therefore i go with infinit baffle. But if i had to pick, it would be ported tuned low. sr20de4evr 04-19-2004, 08:44 PM My opinions: Sealed - good transient response, not enough low end Ported - much louder, much better low end if tuned low, high end suffers slightly, but that really depends on the sub (by high I mean 60-80hz) Bandpass - unless you build it perfectly for your exact sub, it will be very peaky at one frequency and pretty much suck for music My preference is a low-tuned ported box, something in the high 20's at the most. maasimo 04-19-2004, 10:07 PM i have a 97 explorer so i have all the space i need basically because its just going in the back cargo area. would it make a difference with all that extra air space? is this box ok?
