Will Jeep TB fit Venom Intake? Eclipse N/Ttribaleclipse 04-18-2004, 05:13 PM Just got a Jeep TB and was wondering if I could mod it to fit on a Venom Intake? Or should I just port and polish the stock intake? ashah000 04-18-2004, 05:52 PM Do you already have the venom? Well it should fit, since the stock TB fits on the venom, and the Jeep TB fits on the stock manifold. tribaleclipse 04-18-2004, 06:15 PM Didn't order the Venom until I was for sure. Thanks. I did order a crank pulley and underdrive pulleys (alt,w/p,ac). I have read that the crank pulley could cause damage to the engine because the stock crank pully is balanced. Is this true? And were these mods a good investment? ashah000 04-18-2004, 06:30 PM FYI the venom does need some work for fitment from what I have heard d_fl8ted1 04-18-2004, 10:16 PM yes the venom intake needs work installing it, i just installed one on a 1997 non turbo 420a engine, there is no place for the map sensor, or the egr valve, you have to totally do away with the egr valve and drill and tap for the map sensor, also, it might have problems rubbing the throttle cable box that is located on firewall next to the intake as far as the crank pulley, i dont see that to be a problem with the balance we installed one on this 97 and it is fine tribaleclipse 04-19-2004, 09:56 AM Did you see a noticable change when you added the Venom? d_fl8ted1 04-19-2004, 10:31 AM to be honest we didnt really see a big difference with the intake, but it really looks good under the hood, so i mean if you want the looks and not much gain then this is the intake for you tribaleclipse 04-19-2004, 10:49 AM Yeah it does look good. Right now I'm just looking for any little bit of hp I can get. Or whatever will help boost it as far as bolt ons are concerned. I am keeping a log of my mods and their suppossed hp gains. Soon I will let you know what the outcome is in real hp gains. slowgsowner 04-19-2004, 11:24 AM consider your motor as an athelete, the harder it runs the more air it needs to inhale and exhale, I don't remember where I read this but it must have been important, cause I remember the line. anyway If you didn't know, to see any real gains out of the intake, you should work on the exhaust system (not just a cool muffler). but thats just comon knowledge. these parts help each other do their job tribaleclipse 04-19-2004, 11:59 AM well it just so happens I just ordered an OBX header and OBX Cat convert. today. What are your opinions on OBX parts? Good. Bad..... BoostedSpyder 04-19-2004, 02:12 PM OBX seems to be alright, i don't own anything by them, but they seem to be popular enough and there isn't anyone going around saying 'OBX is nad blah blah blah' i do know that there is a hood clearance issue with the Jeep TB fitting on the stock intake mani. something like there is like 1/2 in. room left in there. i'm not certain, but i would think that the Venom intake mani would be larger and not be able to accomidate the clearance. look it up some more :) ashah000 04-19-2004, 02:41 PM Yes there is a hood clearence issue and I believe that a strut bar would not fit over it. Also isn't there a different intake mani, from someone else, I remember looking at it and it claimed to give a 35 hp gain. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
