Explosive Coolant Failure - High Oil Press.

I have a 96 JGC Limited with 115K miles. Yesterday afternoon it developed two (linked?) problems.

1. The oil pressure is suddenly very high - between 70 and 80 when driving, spiking beyond 80 at a stop sign.

2. Explosive coolant failure - coolant is leaking someplace and onto the radiator, burning off. When I popped the hood, the coolant was splashed all over the motor, and appears to have originated from somplace foward and left (from driver seat), just aft of the radiator. I can see coolant all over the radiator baffles, and it is dripping to the ground. I didn't see any hoses with breaks or holes, but Im not really sure what I'm looking at either.

The large hose that runs from the radiator to the engine top appears to be in good shape (no dry rot, no cracking), but when the engine is on, it is still very flexible. Doesn't appear to be under pressure, and I suspect this may not be right.

I had the oil and fluids changed about 1000 miles ago (2 weeks).

Tempurature is constant (needle is left of vertical - 240, I think).

Any advice, help or insight on these problems would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Andy L
