The abs light is on in my 97 jgc. I have tried to clear it according to the hayes manual, but it is still on. The brakes seem to be working fine and have plenty of brake pad. Any idea what I can check next??

I would honestly take it into a dealership and get them to at least take a look at it. Usually, like the dealership I got my JGC from, they'll check the problem for free. And if there's still a warranty on it, and depending on the warranty package you bought when you bought the vehicle, the repairs would be covered minus of course any deductible you may have.

Sounds like you covered the easy stuff. I'd recommend taking it in at this time to the dealership. You may get lucky, it may just be a short :)
