Shafted againzykotik 01-11-2002, 08:50 PM Well I modified my shaft after continuously snapping stock cv joints and guess what it snapped at the weld. I am annoyed dunno what is causing this problem. T4 Primera 01-12-2002, 10:56 PM Was it a bad weld? If it sheared off through the weld, you should be able to see what the weld was like - any inclusions, lack of weld metal or lack of penetration. If it sheared off immediately either side of the weld, it may have been undercut there. What method of welding was used? zykotik 01-13-2002, 12:02 PM I wish I could tell you about the welding but I had a machine shop called Mr.Driveshaft take care of it basically the problem seems to be this: '''''''''''''] ['''''''''''''' Sorry for the crappy diagram but the space indicated between the brackets above is where metal was addedand it was welded after like that. It should've been like this: ''''''''''''''''< >'''''''''''''' Concaved cuts and then filled and welded then, add a sleeve around that weld and weld the sleeve then ti never would've broke. I'm gonna see what happens when I contact Mr.Driveshaft Monday to let them know I expect them to redo it this way. They just cost me 125$ in towing not to mention some lost time. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
