1994 EX Civic auto tranny swapGotTheGoods420 04-15-2004, 06:09 PM i recently bought a 94 civic EX from a family member as a means for getting to work...i have a 1970 SS Chevelle...but the roundtrip is about 70 miles...anyways...i want to swap the auto tranny for a 5-speed...the auto tranny blows and is not fast at all...plus putting any mods feel useless because of the damn tranny...so if anyone has either done this or knows the process and all that it entails, it would be a big help...oh yeah...i work for Import Tuner magazine and i am thinking about doing a tech story on this...i just want to see if it's worth doing...thanks to everyone defmusik 04-15-2004, 06:13 PM wow its sad to see that someone who works for Import Tuner knows probably next to nothing about cars. =[ GotTheGoods420 04-15-2004, 07:03 PM wow its sad to see that someone who works for Import Tuner knows probably next to nothing about cars. =[ what the hell is that supposed to mean? it's sad to have someone say that...how is a question about tranny swaps have anything to do with how much i know about cars? sorry i don't know all the specifics about tranny swaps on a 94 civic...i thought that's why this forum is here...to help out guys with questions...i am just trying to get some feed-back...i could just ask the guys i work with...but i thought hey...i will see what people have to say...you think i could write for import tuner and not know anything? damn that really rubbed me the wrong way...who the hell are you anyways? defmusik 04-15-2004, 07:30 PM sorry but i mean if you write for a car magazine, you should have easy connections to well trained mechanics or some kind of high end engine builder shop. sorry if I offended you, but I think an online forum is the last place you should look for this kind of detailed information, especially if you have these connections. You'll get vague feedback here, and nothing close to what a highly trained mechanic could ever tell you about transmission swapping. PoisonFangs 04-16-2004, 12:25 AM I am with def on this one. Just ask around your office im sure you will find what you are looking for. And especially working for import tuner im sure you could get some mad deals on stuff. defmusik 04-16-2004, 12:54 AM true dat. you should get me the hook ups on some "test" product... GotTheGoods420 04-16-2004, 01:35 PM you are right about getting answer from shops...i am just lazy...but i really just wanted to hear what regular people went through when they attempted this...this sort of swap can get very expensive...i need to find the cheapest way possible...anyways...that's about it defmusik 04-16-2004, 03:08 PM hey i hear you, I'm actually thinking about doing one myself, but I don't know if I should just go all out and get a complete engine / tranny from like an LS or GSR. Not really sure how much it would cost either, if anyone has some prices available from experience that would probably help me and the other guy out GScivic7 04-16-2004, 04:43 PM cheapest that I've gotten quoted for my buddy's LS was $1200. $400 for parts and $800 for labor. defmusik 04-16-2004, 06:14 PM for a tranny swap? or an LS swap GScivic7 04-16-2004, 08:58 PM tranny swap defmusik 04-16-2004, 10:57 PM did he get to keep the transmission? or did they take it? because if I could keep my transmission I'd probably be able to make some money off it, aren't auto transmissions more expensive? BrokenLimits 04-17-2004, 11:49 AM www.brokenlimits.com Click on How Tos and there is an Auto to Manual Swap How TO chris26969 04-18-2004, 11:26 AM this sounds like a whole lot of BS.. GScivic7 04-19-2004, 12:24 AM did he get to keep the transmission? or did they take it? because if I could keep my transmission I'd probably be able to make some money off it, aren't auto transmissions more expensive? keeping the tranny never came up, but it was pretty messed up anyhow. kicker1_solo 04-19-2004, 12:58 AM i thought that's why this forum is here... nope, you're wrong.
