Aurora turn signal problem

I am having problems with both left and right turn signals. When I turn, the turn signal does not turn on inside the car and don't indicate outside the car. I have replaced the flasher underneath the dash but that fixed my emergency flasher situation only. Owners manual says to check the fuse and turning light bulbs but I'm afraid it might be the multi function switch which is over $400. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks, Norseman

Silverbullet97, could be just one of your lights (that does not flash), possibly your fuses need to be checked or the multi function switch. Let me know how it goes...I'm curious

All, I called about 10 Olds dealers throughout the nation and picked the service depts. brains to finally learn that there are TWO flashers under the steering column; one for emergency and one for turning signals. Found the second flasher tucked up further and replaced it and it works great.

I don't know about other manufacturers but GM loves 2 flashers. When you smoke a signal bulb, the flashers stay on high on that side when you flip the switch. Could be a problem if you get stranded on the road and need 4-ways but the bad bulb won't let them work. Hence, the seperate flashers. My '90 Chevy truck is that way too so keep that in mind, there's a lot of difference between vehicles there.

How much are those two flashers under the steering column and how hard and costly are they to replace? My turn signals have slowly and then rapidly gone kaput.
