Hi -

I'm told by the Nissan dealer that my '94 is too old for a factory cruise control retrofit. My mechanic warns me about aftermarket units. Has anyone got any recommendation for a 3rd party cruise control for a manual 1994 PF?

TIA

Ken

Did someone tell you that a 1994 Pathfinder cruise control wouldn't switch to your car?

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for replying. A guy in the service dept. at the local Nissan dealer told me they couldn't do factory retrofits on models that old. You have any ideas?

Usually cars come wired for options and the options are plugged in at the factory. I drove and automatic 1994 Pathfinder that had cruise control so at least your year had the option. The only thing you need to find out if the car is already wired and if manual trans cruise and automantic trans cruise will work. I'm unsure if they take different parts. I'd think that they both work off the same speed sensor to maintain the speed. Can anyone help here?

Thanks Jimmy -

That's an angle I hadn't thought of - whether it's wired for it or not. I'll look into it. I have also wondered about the manual/auto question.

I talked to a couple of Nissan service depts. today and all gave the same answers. The Pathfinders aren't prewired for options like I thought. They said to take parts off a car that had cruise would be a lot of trouble and a ton of parts. Each place said to install an aftermarket cruise control. They also suggested to contact an auto shop to install or recommend a good brand.

Wow, really appreciate all your research on this, especially as I've been swamped the last few days! Thanks. The dealer service guy I talked with did mention a place to ask about 3rd party units, but they're not in the phone book under the name he gave, so I have some chasing down to do.
