I got a letter in the mail yesterday about the cables that hold the T gate up when opened, can fracture or fail and cause severe damage to the vehicle and/or personal safety. GM will be sending out letters to us in the late summer when to take the truck to your local GMC Dealer
for free replacement of the T Gate cables with stainless steel ones.

Mine actually broke about a month ago, and a week after I bought new ones, the letter come in the mail. Dumb luck.

call GM and tell them you replaced yours before the
recall letter. See if they will refund your money.
