I have a 95 Tbird LX with the 4.6L. I want to put in a 5.0 with a T-5. I was wondering how easy or hard this will be? Questions that I have are things like motor mounts lining up or will it need modified, drive train, computer, wiring harness, etc. If any one can give me advice or info it would be helpful. Thanks.

Sure I can give advice: ARE YOU CRAZY????

Why would you go through ALL that trouble, for a motor with essentially the same ammount of HP and Torque?

The 5 speed will bolt up to the 4.6, but your trouble will be with clutch linkages. You'll have to get the guts out of an 89-91? Supercoupe, and put them in.

I looked at putting in a T5 on my 92 5.0 CougarXR7, and the cost was VERY prohibitive. I settled for a nice shift kit, which shifts FASTER than a human with a T5 :). Sure, it robs a bit of power, but it's almost as fun to drive as a Standard car.

And, check out www.tccoa.com for more T-bird/Cougar help.

Hey there, hows it going. This is actually my first post here, but this is exactly
what I was looking for. I have been a fan of the MN12 for years now. Ive had a
90 6-banger and I currently have a 97 4.6 w/ slight mods as my daily driver and
a 91 5 litre, on of the first five litre to roll off the line actually. The 5 litre is in shamble
right now, it took some mild hood and front fender damage a few years ago, so we
decided to attack the whole damn car. We rebuilt the mtor, bought a set of ported,
vintage (68?) heads, Cobra intake, Ford E cam. The moptor still needs the top end put together, but its ready to go. We tried to do that tranny swap 2 summers ago. The SVT guys told us just
to use the SC 5 speed and linkage, that it would swap right. My ass, maybe if you
have a lift and some heavy duty equipment, but otherwise that is not a garage swap.
There just isnt enough room under that bird to do much of anything. Just like the
engine compartment you are at a serious premium for space. So we ended up staying with the AOD unit, one we found in a low mile bird. It should be done this summer and hopefully
Ill have the time to take it to a couple of events.

i'm currently undertaking the same swap only with a 94 mustang gt wrecked parts car and my 95lx. the biggest obstacle is in trying to keep the FI. but persoally the 5.0 and t-5 is the drivetrain combo that they should've came out with not a sc v-sucks or blows!:smokin:
