which type of box to go with??Civic_D16Y5 04-11-2004, 06:30 PM ok, my situation, stick with my ported box for my two 12 inch subs, and then which way would i turn the box, towards me and the passenger, or up o the top of my trunk, or out back facing away from me. choice two is fiberglass a pair of custom fit sub boxes in my trunk, one on each side, and which way should i turn those? mjshort18 04-11-2004, 11:38 PM it depends on what you want out of your box(s). if you are going with the sound quality i would say the ported box will probably sound better, but if you are going for a more custom or stealthy look i would go for the fiberglass project and i would face them anyway, but at each other so there is no cancelation. for the ported box you should face it towards the trunk. hope this helps. BOOTY023 04-16-2004, 09:45 PM also that y5 engine thats an 96'-98' HX right? Vtec-E? Civic_D16Y5 04-18-2004, 01:39 AM yes i have an hx engine, i dont see how this would be important for subwoofer boxes ? bigbadwolf428 04-19-2004, 03:14 PM Your best bet is a sealed box(s) facing the back of the car playlude 04-19-2004, 05:43 PM it depends on what you want out of your box(s). if you are going with the sound quality i would say the ported box will probably sound better, but if you are going for a more custom or stealthy look i would go for the fiberglass project and i would face them anyway, but at each other so there is no cancelation. for the ported box you should face it towards the trunk. hope this helps. i heard that the best type of box for sound quality is a sealed box. im no expert, so im definitely not trying to say youre wrong, im just trying to get the facts straight. bigbadwolf428 04-19-2004, 08:20 PM Yes it greatly reduces distorted sound and it seems to have been louder depending on the car, I happen to have a 93 civic in which it sounds better facing the back. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
