My Motor Oil Is GlamorousLiz123 04-11-2004, 06:00 PM Hi everyone. I just had my 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC's engine rebuilt. I changed the oil after 500 miles, and then again after 2,000 more miles. The first time I changed the oil I didn't look, but the second time I found thousands of very tiny metal shavings in the oil that made my oil look like glitter :screwy: . I was wondering if this is normal with an engine rebuild. If so, what causes this? And when should it stop? Thanks Liz Scatch! 04-23-2004, 11:27 PM It was probably water, not metal. Metal doesn't float for starters. :) I wouldn't worry too much about it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
