The rear brakes on my 2000 Odyssey make a lot of noise when they get hot, dealer says it is the drums, brake shoes are good drums are good

Any suggestions???

I had howling sound as a I rolled to a stop in my 2000 Odyssey too. Particularly when hot. The shoes were fine so I did the following:
- With drums off sprayed/flushed down brakes with brake cleaner (1/2 can on each side), and sprayed the drums as well.
- At the points where shoes rub on the back plate I applied a very small amount of wheel bearing greese with a que tip.

The brakes are now silent. I can't be sure which one did the trick...probably spraying the drums. Good luck...

Honda has come out with an update to the original drums. The thickness of the drum (were the hub mounts) is sizeably thicker than the old ones. The thin drums cause a "howling" hoise and the new ones will fix it. by looking at the drums you will see nothing wrong but if you put the two together then you will see a noticable difference.
