Service Engine Light

I have recently purchased an olds '01 intrigue with only 40k miles. I have only driven it 400 miles since I bought it and already the service engine light is on. Any ideas as to what it could be without hooking it to a computer to get the code?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thomas

A similar thing happened to me...I took it back to the dealer and they couldn't find anything either.Check and see if your gas cap is on correctly or if you filled the tank too full.Mine happened after I put fuel injector cleaner in.Also check with Olds and see if your '01 is available for additional warrenty.Mine was and for $35 I could transferand I got a GM Major guard ...FYI :loser:

Hello, had a very similar problem to my '02 with 18,000mi. Took it to the dealer and wound up being a blown fuse for the emissions pump. They replaced the fuse and with the aid of a scan tool started the pump. It croaked like crazy and then quit. They had to change the pump. She was kaput. No problems since.
