Power Door Locks self-activate - as if possessed

Even when the car is absolutely STILL, the power locks continually and randomly self-actuate (to the open position). Sometimes it happens at long intervals (say 10-min), but other times, it occurs several times a second.

It occurs with no one even remotely close to the car as well as whilst driving normally. The keyless transmitters continue to work normally. When the car is unoccupied, the interior lighting also goes on and does not extinguish.

It appears possessed.

I ASS_U_ME_ that all of this is controlled by the BCM (just found out what that acronym meant) and that the BCM is behind/under the glove box.

Does this mean replacement (which I fear may be quite expensive)?

Inquiring minds want to know how to perform an exorcism!

Check The Locks With Your Key, All The Locks.
Turn The Key To Lock Position, Then, The Unlock Position.
The Lock On The Sliding Door May Have Been Turned Too Far With The Key.
If This Fixes The Problem Don't Use The Key On That Lock Anymore.

The sliding door seems to be involved with this self-activation of the door locks; at least the behaviour changes quite noticeably after the treatment you suggest.

After (forceful) unlocking/locking of the sliding door, the self-activation, while not gone altogether, was greatly improved (it happened far less often).

Should I take the door apart to 'see' what's going on? Or is the problem even in the door?

I think the switch is part of the lock, or attatched by linkage.
try turning the lock with the key again, back and forth.
I remember feeling a rough spot when it kind of set back in place.

I had this same possession happen to my 91 Grand Prix. i eventually pulled out the receiver module for the keyless entry system.

most likely it was bad caps or a grounding problem in the module itself but i'm not sure.

I learned to live without the keyless entry.
