95 Grand Cherokke Shuts off even when i changed the Crankshaft Position Sensor!95GrdChrkeLvr06 04-09-2004, 09:13 PM OK, I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Chereoke and it shuts off on me when i am driving down the road or some times it wont start at all! and i had the distributer changed and the crankshaft position sensor changed. Also it is not the fuel pump because the engine is getting fuel ok and it isnt the ignition switch because the engine turns over, but just wont start, so what can it be now? HI CHECK FOR SPARK AT THE PLUGS THEN PULL THE COIL WIRE & CHECK TO SEE IF YOU'RE GETTING SPARKFROM THE COIL TO THE DISTRIBUTOR. IF YOU GET SPARK GOING INTO DISRRIBUTOR BUT NO SPARK AT PLUGS THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MAYBE BAD. DALE jeepman600@aol.com :banghead: 95GrdChrkeLvr06 04-11-2004, 11:59 AM Hey, thanks i will do that then. I have it narrowed down to four things 1.) oxygen sensor 2.)camshaft position sensor 3.)coil 4.)ECM So which one do u think is most likely; leading to my problem? Dale Aeppli 04-12-2004, 12:37 PM Hey, thanks i will do that then. I have it narrowed down to four things 1.) oxygen sensor 2.)camshaft position sensor 3.)coil 4.)ECM So which one do u think is most likely; leading to my problem? its really hard to say till you know about spark situation i would say the camshaftor the coil if the coil checks out then go on to camshaft sensor dale jeepman600@aol.com :banghead: 95GrdChrkeLvr06 04-12-2004, 05:30 PM ok, I will check both of them out and get back to you on the results. Dsilver 04-22-2004, 10:04 PM Always listen to Dale, he is the Oracle of the Jeep. 95GrdChrkeLvr06 04-23-2004, 05:50 PM Hey, i found out the problem. Here the ECM or the computer known to most people as, had gone bad. They needed to special order a new one from California. It cost $355 so i wasnt happy about that. Here's what i all changed. The Coil. Rotor, Distributor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil. Crankshaft Position Sensor (twice), and the ECM. So really makde sure u know what the problem is before you just go and change something. And there are codes to find out the problems. Well if you have any problems, just email me at philliesfan06@msn.com Dsilver 04-25-2004, 06:38 PM Good to hear, but sorry to hear about the expensive repairs, but thats life when it comes to fixing cars. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
