My friend has a 95 dodge neon 2.0 dohc...he blew the engine and wants to get a new one. I'v heard that a 3.0 v-6 out of a stealth will bolt right in...BUT... i was wondering if the wiring harness's would match up...(correct me if im wrong, i thought the engine out of the stealth was a mitsubshi with a dodge tag on it) im going to be the one doing the swap so i dont really want to tell him to buy the v-6 that wont even work..just wondering if you all knew anything about it??

www.neons.org has a detailed set of instructions on how to swap a 3.0 into a neon, i think.

dont think a 3.0 will go in but the 2.4's are pretty close to a direct swap. Also the mitsubishi bought their engines of dodge, the eclipse uses a toned down version of the neon dohc.

the eclipse is an exact version of the dohc, just backwards. as far as the 3.0 into a neon, doubtful bolt in, fab, maybe, 2.4 a def. go for that

ok....now i got another question...with the 2.4, if i were to put it in....would it use the same ecu and wiring harness?? cause i can get an engine for 375$ but dont kno if i need the harness and everyhing

the 2.4 has the same head as the dohc, so a 2.4 uses the same sensors and pcm as the dohc, although the 95's are slightly diff then the other years, but its not a big deal at all, swap in the 2.4 it will rip.

also the eclipse version of the dohc is 140hp unlike the neon's 150hp

ok.....now....my friend's dad said we cant swap the motor cause they put the 2.4 in the caravans and his neon is a 5 spd and the motor wont handle a manual, he said it wasnt made for a manual so it cant handle the strain it will put on it and the life of the engine will greatly decrease.....i dont think this is true, i dont think they make a beefier engine for a manual car....he said if you put an engine that has been in an automatic into a car that is a manual it will not last as long...i think its all bull.....what do u think

ohh....and can u get performance mods for a 2.4.....it is out of a caravan.....iv never heard of a pimped out caravan with 300whp...

The 2.4 is what they put in the new pt cruiser. They are 5 speed manual as well as auto. There is a shit ton of stuff you can do to it. The biggest difference between the manual and auto of a 95 2.0 sohc is the throttle body. The one off the auto is bigger than a manual. Cheap bolt on if you can find one in a junkyard. I got mine for 30 bucks. I don't know if the 2.4 is the same way or not though... Might be worth checking in to.

Or you could always go with the 2.0 magnum engine. Has as much hps as the dohc.
