Annoying loud humscooter2257 04-08-2004, 02:42 PM I have recently purchased a 1994 GC that was left sitting in water to the axel for several days. When I drive this vehicle, there is a loud hum sound from the front of the vehicle. At first my brother thought it was from the large tires on this vehicle. However a friend said he thought bearings. When I took it to Les Schwab, they though probably bearings also, from test driving it. My question is how hard is it to replace the bearing, hub assembly? Thanks! Dsilver 04-09-2004, 03:18 AM :22yikes: Why was the car left in water for several days? and are you saying the whole back of the car was submerged in water, so it was left in a river or kiddie pool or what? :chair: scooter2257 04-09-2004, 11:20 AM The vehicle was left in a large mud puddle. The person that owned it at the time was mad at the guy I bought the vehicle from because he was taking it back, so in revenge he parked it in a puddle. Basically just the underside was in the water, about half way on the tires. mxprep553 04-09-2004, 10:58 PM :smokin: did it look tuff? dksob81 09-16-2004, 01:29 AM what the jeep sitting in a giant mud puddle hell yea it looked tuff don't all jeep, when in mud.....lol just messin' with u. if u want instructions on replacing the hub assembly, just email me Joe dksob81@hotmail.com it's not reall that hard at all to change. a_alyte 10-21-2004, 05:05 PM My '98 ZJ once produced a humming noise in the rear, it was my differential. Complete overhaul was needed to eliminate this annoying humm! Cam7 10-22-2004, 03:52 AM Pull the front Diff. cover off if that is where the noise is comming from and check the condition of the fluid. Might have been contaminated. Replace fluid and jack up all 4 wheels and start Jeep and put in drive. try to isolate the noise and make sure u use jack stands. ChadEbert 10-22-2004, 08:45 AM jack stands take away all the fun, Cam. Sheesh you kill joy! <Laughs> vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
